In recent years, Wellness and self-care have become hot topics, and self-help books are being picked up to improve healthy habits. Out of hundreds of thousands of novels, there are definitely frontrunners that readers gravitate toward across the country—but interestingly enough, the most popular choice varies state by state.

Acupuncture company Lhasa OMS conduced a research study that determined the most popular self-improvement books of all time in every state across America. Using Google Trends, they pulled the most popular titles and analyzed the most searched book of the bunch in each state. While some of the findings weren’t too surprising (hello, Marie Kondo’s “The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up”), others you may have never heard of will inspire you to rush to the nearest bookstore ASAP.

The first most noteworthy takeaway is that “The Secret” by Rhonda Byrne was the top self-help book in the most states by a landslide. 19 states spread out across the country chose the best-seller as its favorite, while “Heart Talk” by Cleo Wade came in second with four states.

It’s interesting to see your state’s most popular pick because it might be an indicator as to what your fellow neighbors want to improve about themselves. You can also check out your state’s most popular books released in the last decade
