Herman's motivation for Texas featured in offseason highlights – 247Sports

Since Tom Herman was hired to take over control of Texas Football, the head coach and his staff have continued to work to instill what they believe to be a championship caliber culture among the Longhorns. And that culture begins in offseason training.

Herman’s team has spent the last few months under the direction of head strength coach Yancy McKnight as the Longhorns prepare to get their bodies in peak playing shape before McKnight hands the guys over to the coaching staff to begin fall camp come early August.

After posting the program’s first double-digit record in 2018, Herman is leaving the accomplishments from last season in the past and placing full emphasis on the 2019 season.

“The core of who we are is to go 1-0,” Herman can be heard saying in the above highlight video. “Did last year’s team do some really cool things? Yeah, they did. That was last year’s team.

“What last year’s team did has no bearing on what this year’s team will or can do. What happens this year in the fall is going to be determined by how this team works.”

The Longhorns enter Year 3 of the Herman era with added hype following last season’s 10-win record, capped off with an upset over No. 5 Georgia to be crowned champions of the Allstate Sugar Bowl in the program’s first New Year’s Six Bowl appearance since the inception of the College Football Playoff.

Herman and his team will have the first opportunity to prove if the hype is legit or not come August 31 when Texas hosts Louisiana Tech at Darrell K Royal — Texas Memorial Stadium for the 2019 season opener.

Watch the above video to hear all the head coach and his team leaders had to say to the Longhorns in offseason training.
