First came the "Money Diaries": lifestyle magazine Refinery 29’s eye-popping series that offered a peek into the private lives of privileged millennials. Its most infamous diary entry, “A Week in New York City on $25/Hour,” nearly broke the internet last summer as readers huffed over the oblivious privilege of a 21-year-old intern living in New York City who spent thousands on acai bowls and trips to the Hamptons — belatedly revealing that her family gifted her $3,200 for expenses and rent on top of her meager intern wage. Refinery29’s editors must have noticed a common thread in the spending habits of these diarists, in that most women were spending a hefty percentage of their incomes on "self-care" — yoga classes, Soul Cycle, vitamins, face masks and the like. The Madison County Law Library and Legal Self-Help Center have expanded their hours to make staff available over the lunch hour from noon to 1 p.m. The law library is in the basement of the Madison County Courthouse in Edwardsville and has been in its current location since 1994. “The growing numbers of litigants and attorneys using the library warranted expanding the hours the court is available to help patrons,” newly elected Chief Judge William A. Staffed by a law librarian and two clerks, the library is able to provide assistance direct
My fitness journey started when I became a father in 2010. At the time, I wasn’t overweight, but I was on a path that could have ended that way. Despite being in the food business and knowing all about nutrition and calories, and also being a decent cook, my diet was terrible and consisted of a lot of takeaways and eating out. Becoming a father was the motivation I needed to change my lifestyle, because I wanted to be a good role model and enjoy being active with my kids. I started personal training with Chris Cadwell from The Edge Gym in Clontarf, as I needed expert advice initially to kickstart the new journey. I loved it instantly and still train one-on-one. I currently train with Jenni TRX. She’s c

A scant ten years ago, the biggest global brands spoke at conferences about integrated marketing and eliminating silos. And yet at the time, no one knew the surge of control consumers would grab away from CMOs, not to mention the intensity and velocity at which it would happen, nor had anyone experienced the burden of the new accountabilities and challenges we face today. The walls are coming down, and once disparate pathways are converging. But defining this new reality often produces more questions than answers. Everywhere they are, consumers are now industries in their own right, powered by their mobility. Movement and technology are no longer obstacles. Consumers are creating their own new ecosystems, enablers of access and influence, and that will only continue. What hasn’t changed
