MetaQuotes, a software provider to the retail trading industry, announced on Tuesday that it has acquired Searchengines.ru.
Founded in 2000, Searchengines.ru operates a news portal for online marketing.
Initially a forum for Russian internet users to discuss and analyse search engines, the firm started providing news on the digital marketing ecosystem in 2001.
A year after that, the company also launched the first ever search engine optimisation (SEO) conference in Russia – Optimization.ru.
On top of those activities, Searchengines.ru runs Searchengines.guru – a forum dedicated to online marketing issues.
MetaQuotes – expanding web analytics services
It is unclear exactly what MetaQuotes plans on doing with the site.

The terms of the deal were also not disclosed by either party but the chief executive officer (CEO) of Searchengines.ru, Sergey Petrenko, confirmed that he will be leaving the company.
“For over 18 years, since the [website’s] creation, I have given it almost everything I could,” said Petrenko, who also founded the site.
“I wish every success to the new owners and I hope they will bring the project to new levels.”
Though they did not say what changes, if any, they will be making, MetaQuotes issued a statement that did give some insights on what it plans on using its new acquisition for.
“This deal enables further expansion and development of our web analytics and conversion optimization services,” said the company’s CEO Renat Fatkhullin.
“However, we are committed [to] keeping the unique community and the existing team who will continue to support and further develop this resource.”
