The era of email@example.com is over—and the time for automated, conversational communications has arrived. Today’s consumers expect more from their most loved brands, and companies must evolve to deliver real-time engagement that satisfies customer needs and wants.Eighty percent of consumers say no retailer or service provider has ever sent them a communication that felt overly personal. Just look at L’Oréal. When it launched its Makeup Genius app, customers didn’t cry foul at facial recognition. Instead, they leapt at the opportunity to engage with the brand in that way, demonstrating that audiences are hungry for personalized experiences that add value beyond the product itself.Automated communications have often sounded cold and impersonal. For example, the ty

The arch on the Randall Ave. side provides a grand entrance onto the grounds that have seen one winning season after another. Wrap around to the gates on Monroe St., and you're greeted by a statue of Hall of Fame coach Barry Alvarez. Walking through the tunnels underneath the stands, you could spend a day reading through the full-wall murals that celebrate past Wisconsin greats. And inside, some of those names and their retired numbers are cemented on the facade, reminding fans of who helped build the program into something great. Typically, the Badgers get that same morale-boosting vibe when they walk into their locker room. But typically, they also take care of bu

Personal branding provides you with the opportunity to differentiate yourself from the rest of the users, as well as with the opportunity to have the sort of exposure that could help you earn other people’s trust. For instance, we have all heard those ‘scam’ stories, which have led us to doubt the validity of a lot of information we find online. Yet, personal branding, would give you the opportunity to create a netwo

This morning I delivered a training session on Self-Motivation and Resilience to a group of new, eager consultants. I remembered how I sat in their shoes nearly four years ago, bewildered by some of the success that my colleagues were achieving. It was almost overwhelming how far away a success like that seemed to me. I was so incredibly far from accomplishing something like that, I was happy if I didn’t get lost in the office or remembered someone’s name whom I’d only met the week before. This was by far my favourite training session that I have delivered to date. I’m not too sure if it motivated the participants as much is it motivated the trainer (me), but I left that session with a buzz and euphoria that I haven’t felt in a long time. Success if a funny thing. It’s something

You’re a social entrepreneur with a great idea. You’ve done all the paperwork to register your nonprofit, engaged a writer, hired a designer and are looking toward your launch. Perhaps you’re asking yourself, “If I build it, will they come?” The answer is no unless you’re going to invest time and energy to clearly identify your audience and spread the word.Define an audience narrower than the “general public”Hopefully your writer began your professional relationship with this question, “Who’s your target audience?” Some business people and social entrepreneurs struggle to answer this or dream too broadly, thinking, “Wouldn’t everyone be interested in my idea?
